Red Stripe

Red Stripe restaurants, with locations in Providence and East Greenwich, Rhode Island, serve creatively refined comfort food with an upscale French influence.

Red Stripe is an “American brasserie” which is a modern take on the traditional European-style French café. In France, the word “brasserie” (according to Wikipedia) refers to a type of restaurant with a relaxed setting that serves single dishes and other meals with professional service, printed menus and traditionally white linen. In true brasserie style, the eateries are a convivial spot to enjoy quality lunch, dinner and brunch entrees, cocktails or casual food at affordable prices.

Established in 2008, Red Stripe Providence is located in fashionable Wayland Square and just minutes from the campuses of Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design. It features a newly expanded 1,650 sq. ft. private dining room, bar and 70+ seat function space to accommodate a total of 170 diners. Designed by award-winning Interior Designer Judd Brown, the restaurant sports a red outdoor awning, dark wood walls, high tin ceiling and striking black-and-white floor pattern that is Red Stripe’s signature brand.

In November 2014, Red Stripe East Greenwich opened in the charming historic downtown area on Main Street, in the former Caprice Restaurant site. With approximately 5,000 sq. ft., the building is larger than the Wayland location and can accommodate 175 seats including a private dining area. The interior and exterior echoes many of the original Providence details, and the menu offerings remain consistent for both locations.

Whether marking an occasion or simply going out for a bite, Red Stripe is your neighborhood restaurant of choice.

Red Stripe is owned by Encore Hospitality Group (an affiliate of Ocean State Job Lot) which also owns Mill’s Tavern restaurant in Providence.
